Invictus Games hero, comedians and leading tourism and disability figureheads – watch our project finale here

WOW! What a fantastic event our virtual showcase was! But if you missed it – don’t worry!

We did have grand plans for our end of project showcase, but we had to change them due to Covid-19, so we had the idea to host a virtual event instead, showcasing all our highlights and how we can all keep Carrying On Accessibility across the Fylde Coast and beyond.

If you were not able to join us for our Facebook Live event, you can watch it here.

We were so pleased to have Invictus Games hero Mike Goody to present the showcase programme and welcome guest speakers such as Ross Calladine, of Visit England, who lent his support for our project and the important work we had done.

And, Ray Veal, Access Champion for the UK tourism sector and OBE winning CEO of Charity Purple Mike Adams – who is behind the yearly ‘Purple Tuesday’ accessible shopping day for all -talked together via a zoom call about the importance of making positive experiences for disabled people.

Alan Reid, CEO of Disability First, which spearheaded the Access Fylde Coast project, talks about why he kick-started the project and what it had set out to achieve, what it has done and importantly, the legacy it will leave behind.

While Rachel Ryan, PR and marketing lead, with Julie Hutson, accounts and finance lead for the project, took on a challenge from Mike Goody to reel off as many highlights they could from the project in 1 minute!

With a montage of video highlights, the evening ended with the hilarious Aaron Simmonds and Georgie Morrell, who performed a special comedy set, to round off a truly excellent evening.
